If you’re having a tough time deciding which gloves are right for you then you should take my Glove Selection Quiz. It’s an 8 question quiz that will help you choose the right heated gloves for your needs.

Comfort + Warmth

The Zanier Aviator GTX UX Heated Gloves look the part and when it comes down to comfort they are some of the most comfortable gloves around.

The inner lining of the glove especially feels very soft against the skin making them really really nice to wear.

The gloves primary function is for paragliders which means that naturally the gloves have to be warm but also not too bulky to ensure that dexterity is not compromised and to be perfectly honest the Zanier Aviator Gloves have the perfect balance between warmth and not sacrificing dexterity.

The base of the glove itself is fairly warm but if this isn’t enough the glove is kitted out with a nice heating system.

The heat is provided primarily to the fingers with a particular focus on the very tips to ensure that the cold doesn’t cause your fingers to become stiff.

Especially if you’re paragliding you don’t want to lose mobility of your fingers. But it must be said, don’t be afraid to use these gloves for things other than paragliding, they could be used in a wide range of situations like skiing or any other winter activity.

I’ve already written about other Zanier gloves so I was confident that these gloves would impress me and I wasn’t wrong.

I’m giving them a 18/20 for comfort and a 17/20 for warmth.

Water Resistance

Gore-Tex is debatably the most well known and most respected brand name when it comes to waterproof and that’s exactly what you’re getting when you purchase some of the Zanier Aviator Gloves.

The gloves feature a Gore-Tex waterproof layer which in my opinion most importantly is highly breathable.

This means that not only will your hands remain completely dry, regardless of the weather conditions but the waterproofing will not cause your hands to warm up to an uncomfortable temperature and allow moisture build up.

Instead the breathable layer will be able to wick away any moisture that builds up, ensuring that your hands remain comfortable and dry.

I’m giving them a 19/20 in this category.

Quality

When you look at the Zanier Aviator Gloves they look like a very well made high quality glove.

They say you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover but if you’re going to judge the Aviator’s by their looks you’ll get the correct impression of them.

Exciting, vibrant, high quality. They look the part and they are the part. As well as the glove being manufactured to a high standard and the materials that have been used are of a high, durable quality the color scheme is beautiful.

Gloves can sometimes be too dull in my opinion but Zanier have got this design perfectly.

The black and grey patterning gives the glove a professional look while the wisps of red amongst the darker colors makes the glove look a little flamboyant but not too bold.

In my opinion a perfect design and manufactured using good materials so what’s not to love?

I’m giving them a 20/20 in this category.

Battery

The Zanier Aviator Glove’s heating system is powered by a lithium-ion battery.

The battery takes a fairly standard, expected time to charge up – around 1-2 hours.

The glove will last for approximately 2 hours and 51 minutes on it’s highest heating setting which is a very good amount of time. One of the best I’ve seen.

If for whatever reason 2 hours and 51 minutes isn’t good enough the gloves do have specialized pockets which enable you to carry extra batteries meaning that you can be using the heated gloves for many many hours on end.

I’m giving them a 19/20 in this category.

Fit

The Aviator Heated Gloves feature an elasticated wrist cuff which holds the glove in place on your wrist for a comfortable fit.

The glove also has a slight stretch to it meaning that it will mold your hand to a certain extent which further adds to the fit and comfort of the glove.

I found that they fit true to size. If you’re unsure about what size to order you can have a look at our sizing guide.

Final Thoughts

The Zanier Aviator GTX UX heated gloves are a fantastic heated glove.

Although they are fairly high priced you’re also getting top of the range quality making the glove good value for money.

Not only does the glove have the features previously mentioned but it also has a few nice little additional features such as touch screen technology on the finger tips meaning that you won’t need to remove the gloves to use your devices.

Overall the glove is a fantastic all round bit of kit.

There is no particular category in which the Aviators have a weaker performance. It may be a premium price but one things for sure, you’re getting a premium product. A fantastic buy for outdoor enthusiasts.

Cheers,

Robert

    Dear Robert,
    Thanks for your reviews!
I smoking for heated gloves for my husband’s birthday that will truly heat to fingertips! He has great circulation except for a couple of his fomgdrtjps due to orthopedic nerve issues. He will use for skiing, but in reading your reviews, it sounded like the Zanier paragliding gloves would be the ones for him. Not too bulky and concentrating heat to finger tips?
His best friend who has Ranauds is getting the OR Lucents for his Bday…. so that was my 1st thought. But then saw the Zs!
    Will appreciate your thoughts!
    Thanks!

      Suzanne,

So sorry for the slow reply as I’ve been away from my office for the holiday season. I’m back now and hopefully I can help you find some great gloves for your husband.

The Zanier Paraglider gloves are great but as far as I know they only heat the back of the hand rather than both sides. If you really want t heated glove that will heat each finger all the way to the fingertips as well as both the front and back of the hand then you should probably go with the Volt brand. Also known as VoltHeat. They have a large line up of different models but I would steer you towards the Volt Frostie. These are great gloves and I think they will serve your husbands needs perfectly.

        Dear Robert,
        Just saw your reply!
        Thanks so much!
I did end up ording the Zanier’s, which will arrive Mon.
Everything slows down around the holidays!
        Sandy’s Bday is today LOL
So, he can check them out and in the meantime, will also check out Volts.

The claim of Zanier GTX Aviator is that they specifically concentrate heat to fingertips, but we’ll see… 🙂
and let you know what we find out if you’d like!
HappY New Year! and thanks again!

    Robert,
Thanks for providing the wonderful reviews. I’ve been looking for heated gloves ever since the temperature dropped to 9 Fahrenheit locally and I had to walk the dog. Coming across your site was like finding a treasure. I’m still looking through your reviews but have a question about the battery life score for the Zanier Aviators? The review mentions a 5 hour battery life on high. Since most of the other heated gloves only make it to about 2.5 hours, why is the rating for the Aviators a 15/20 instead of a 20/20? Thanks.

      Barry,

Thanks a lot for the kind words and for the question. Your question really had me stumped because 5 hours on the high setting is actually really good results. In fact that’s better than pretty much any other heated gloves on the market so I’m not sure why I only gave them a 15/20 in that category.

I didn’t want to mislead you so I made a point of re-testing these gloves this morning (after I saw your question) just to double check them.

Fortunately it was a cold day today so I was able to get some very accurate results.

I tried them on the high setting and left them on the high setting until they shut off. In doing this the battery ended up lasting 2 hours and 51 minutes.

This is a far cry from 5 hours which is what I said they did in this review. I feel really bad about this because I wrote this review a few months ago and I hate to think that I have mislead anybody about this. In addition to this, I want to say that 2 hours and 51 minutes is a long time for the high setting when compared to other gloves.

The batteries on these gloves are actually very good.

SO…..It would appear that there were some errors in this review.

It’s possible that the gloves accidentally changed settings the first time I reviewed them which would have made me believe that they lasted longer than they actually did.

But that doesn’t explain the 15/20 score. Any gloves that actually lasted 5 hours at the high setting would definitely get a 20/20 score on this website for the battery category so I’m not sure how this got so screwed up.

I apologize for this mistake and I want to thank you for bringing this to my attention.

I’ve changed this article and I’ve updated the score. Now I’m giving these gloves a 19/20 for the battery category.

      Thanks again,

      Robert

    Robert,
Thanks for your detailed response and for even going out of your way to retest the battery life on the Aviators. I’m very impressed by your professionalism and desire to make sure everything is accurate. I’m still looking around the site to find the perfect heated glove for me and I’m sure I’ll be able to find something. Thanks again.

Hi Robert, Can you please tell me why Amazon only has Medium and XX-Large? Why carry these gloves at all if you don’t stock the varies sizes? I wanted to Order from Amazon but now I will order from The Warming Store.

      Stephen,

Yes this is very annoying. Amazon is usually pretty good and sometimes it’s just bad timing. They usually have the best selection of sizes in stock but if you are unlucky you’ll be looking during a time when they are low on sizes. Usually if you wait a week they will re-stock.

      Jenny,

For road cycling I would suggest getting a pair of heated glove liners. The liners are much thinner and so the dexterity will be much better. This also gives you the opportunity to wear a pair of protective cycling gloves over top of them if you feel the need. Have a look at my post showing the best heated glove liners.

Hopefully you hear from them soon.
