If you’ve ever searched for a pair of heated gloves then you’ve probably come across this pair in your search results. The Volt rechargeable heated gloves are one of the most popular pairs on the market and with good reason because they’re a great choice for an overall good pair of heated gloves.

These Volt Men’s Tatra Gloves exceeded my expectations by a lot.

Heated Gloves Overview

This is a great pair of heated gloves that you’ll be able to get a lot of use out of. They’re really good for any winter or snow activity and you’ll be happy with the confort and durability.

They have a nylon outer layer with a soft leather palm for extra comfort. They’re also equiped with a waterproof and breathable(Aquatex) membrane that keeps your hands dry in all conditions.

Volt is a pretty big name in the heated gloves industry and so you know that any product they put out will be high quality. This one is no different.

Comfort + Warmth

There’s no doubt at all about the comfort of these gloves. I’ve warn this pair for long periods of time in all sorts of different situations and I never got annoyed with them at all.

Leather is by far the most comfortable material that a glove can be made of and although these aren’t completely leather, the leather palm makes these a pleasure to wear.

The battery pack is in a good spot on the back of the hand so you don’t even really notice it’s there most of them time. I also found the battery to be lightweight and compact which is great.

The leanth of the cuff is good too. Not too long that they’re bulky but long enough that you can get them over your jacket sleeve and tighten the draw string to keep out air and moisture. That being said, the gauntlet isn’t huge. Was a little tight on my sleeve but not a big issue.

They have a little bit of insulation so that they’re pretty warm even without using the heat function but they also hold the heat in fairly well which makes them efficient.

The heat warms up to 150 Degrees Fahrenheit at the highest setting which is very hot. Of course there’s insulation so that it doesn’t feel like it could ever actually burn your hand.

The 4 temperature settings make these really versatile which is great if you live in a climate that’s constantly changing.

I found that the heat distribution was great. All five fingers get heat along both sides as well as the front and back of the hand making for a toasty warm hand without any dead zones.

I gave these a rating of 18/20 for comfort. The only reason I docked them 2 points was because they were a tiny bit stiff feeling. The fact that the palm was leather made them less stiff but the vinyl parts took a while to break in.

I gave these a rating of 18/20 for warmth. The heat was really nice and hot when turned to high and they were insulated enough that they didn’t lose heat too quickly. The only reason I docked them 2 points is because when compared to other gloves, they weren’t quite as warm. But still a VERY warm pair of gloves.

Water Resistance

These passed the water resistance tests with flying colors. I couldn’t get any moisture into the glove even after submerging them completely in water.

If you live in a wet climate or have struggled to keep your hands dry, these gloves will certainly do the trick in this department.

I noticed that the leather palm did absorb some water which is totally understandable since it’s leather but nothing actually got through the membrane to my hand.

So the only reason I docked them 1 point in this department is because the leather absorbed a little bit of water making them slightly heavy and thus slightly less compfortable. They get a 19/20.

Quality

From looking at the gloves initially and inspecting them, I’d say that they look very well built and they feel very durable.

The stitching stands up well to heavy use so I’d say these would be great as a light work glove for things like shoveling snow, walking the dog and other light use jobs.

I wouldn’t recommend buying these gloves for heavy work use as they don’t have extra padding or stitching to withstand a hardcore work load. They’re more of a recreational type of glove.

With all of this being said, these gloves are made in China and not Made In America which begs the question, How will they stand the test of time?

I’d guess that they’d do just fine based on the look and feel but if you’re the type of person that only buys North American made products then you might want to seek out a different pair.

I gave them a 16/20 for quality because they don’t have a lot of extra padding or stitching on them for extra durability. For most applications this is not a problem but it’s important to know this if you’re looking for a heavy duty work glove.

Battery

They come with two 7.4V 2200mAh batteries and a charger. Volt claims that the heat will last for 2+ hours on the highest heat setting and 8+ hours on the lowest setting but just like when a car says it gets 35MPG from the factory, that’s usually not exactly the case in real life use.

I’m sure when they tested these gloves they were indoors and the conditions were perfect and stable. Here’s the numbers Volt gives us.

100% High – 2 Hours

75% Med/High – 3 hours

50% Med – 5 hours

25% Low – 8 Hours

My personal test gave me slightly different results but not too far off. I was able to get the 2+ hours of heat on high heat which was great.

However I wasn’t able to get 8+ hours on the lowest setting as advertised. I made it to the 7 hour mark when the battery just died. This is a little concerning because this was on the first charge when the battery should be at it’s strongest.

I read quite a few other reviews online and a lot of people are also finding that the battery is less than satisfactory. A lot of people are saying that it just doen’t last long enough.

With that being said, my personaly results were pretty good and there are a lot of people online saying that they batteries were good. So you always have to take those things with a grain of salt.

My rating for the battery is 14/20.

Fit

I normally wear a Men’s size large but with these gloves I needed an extra large. I found that they fit small and so you should probably order one size bigger than you normally do.

I also noticed that this is consistent with what other reviews online are saying. If you don’t know what size you should wear you should have a look at our Sizing Guide to see where you stand and then of course, buy one size up if you buy this glove.

Final Thoughts

I have to say that I liked these gloves. The overall quality and comfort of them is good and they do exactly what most people want when seeking out heated gloves.

You won’t have to worry about getting cold hands anymore if you buy these gloves. With that being said, hopefully you read this review thouroughly so that you know the details about these gloves.

As I’ve said, these are great for recreation use or light work job like shoveling snow or walking the dog. I would highly recommend these for skiing/snowboarding and pretty much any winter/snow activity.

However they aren’t made for heavy duty work type jobs and I also wouldn’t recommend them as a motorcycle glove because they don’t offer protection.

I hope you found this review helpful. If you don’t think this is the pair of gloves for you, please have a look at our other reviews and I’m sure you can find the right pair as there is a very wide range.

Also if you’re interested Volt also makes heated slippers which are really cool for after a long day of skiing.

Cheers,

Robert

I am from Nevada. One awfull cold place in the winter time. The neat thing is that the climate is so dry there that you can go out and work and enjoy it down to -20 so long as there’s no wind. I’ve been wanting to get me a pair of these gloves for snowboarding and snowmobiling. Do you know if they make any for a snowmobile that you simply plug into the 12volt outlet. I know heated hand grips work pretty decent but they only provide heat on the palm which is not a good idea. Torrey

I also live in a pretty dry cold climate so i understand what you mean. As long as the wind isn’t blowing you can always bundle up and stay warm.

There are a few really good options for snomobiling and yes some of them are set up to be plugged into the 12volt outlet.

I would personally recommend the Venture 12 Volt Liners. These are great gloves and they will work with your outlet that you have set up. Just be aware that these are only a liner so you may want a shell to wear on top of them if it’s a wet or windy day.

      Good luck,

      Robert

This was such a detailed and thorough review! You provided everything necessary to know when selecting the right pair of heated gloves. The review was honest, yet still made it seem like an excellent product. Thank you for all of the information and the visuals. Even the images demonstrated entirely how this product was and helps with deciding on whether or not this would be the right choice really well.

      Tempest,

Thanks very much for the comment. I do my best to make my reviews as detailed as possible. I’ve made a lot of purchases online and I know how important it is to make an informed decision. You really need to know everything there is to know so that you don’t buy the wrong thing.

Of course you can always exchange a purchase if you’re not happy but that always takes time and there is always the chance that you don’t realize you aren’t happy with something until you’ve used it for some time which usually means that it’s not eligible for return.

Glad you found this review helpful.

      Cheers,

      Robert

After reading your thorough review on these heated gloves; It seems it’s certainly worth every dollar of the cost. Believe it or not, I’ve never heard of heated gloves but what a great winter item to have. Although, they are generally for the winter or cold weather…Also, I wonder if these very gloves can be used for people with arthritis? I know a lot of elderly people who may find this useful. I can see the value in these gloves for myself and others, this is cool.

      Bev,

Thanks very much for the comment and the question. To answer your question, yes these heated gloves can be very helpful for people with arthritis pain. The warmth can really be beneficial for this and also for people with Reynaud’s disease.

I’m glad you enjoyed the review and found it helpful. Please let me know if you have any questions.

      Cheers,

    Hi

I’ve never truly thought about getting heated gloves and never really understood what I would use them for. Being in the south the temperatures tend to change a lot but on a cold day these would be very useful. This was a really good review it almost made me want to buy but I don’t need them at the moment. This review was very in depth and something I will consider in the future when cold days are ahead. This is really wellinformed.

      Adrienne,

Thanks very much for the kind words. If you’re down south I don’t imagine there would be too many days of the year that you would need heated gloves. Although I have sold some to a few people from there just becUse they do the odd trip up north or for gifts to people who live more north.

Either way I’m glad you enjoyed the review and hopefully you learned something new.

      Cheers,

Really? That is actually really cool. I never knew anything about heated gloves. This is my first time. I would love to get those, for ice fishing they would be really handy to have. I’ll probably tell my dad about them as well because he has some problems with his knuckles especially in winter but keeping themwarm in those warming gloves would be probably way better.

      Alex,

You’re not the first person who has told me that your only hearing about these for the first time in my website. It’s true that a lot of people don’t really know about these yet. Once people give them a try I know they’ll be really popular because they are so cozy.

They are great for ice fishing for sure. The great thing is that you can get a thin pair for ice fishing so that you still have dexterity. With heated gloves you can get away with using thin gloves.

      Cheers,

      Robert

This product seems to be very helpful, especially for those who are living in Canada like me. My dad just purchased that kind of gloves, because he works in construction, and winter it is very heavy here. He was actually very satisfied with the product. I also love the price , because the pair my dad purchased cost him about 150 $ without shipping. Thx for the review!

      Tanya,

That’s great that your Dad is enjoying his gloves. Yes these ones are a pretty reasonable price especially considering the quality of them. Very good value in my opinion. Thanks for stopping by.

When I came across this review I was intrigued immediately. Whilst I live in the tropics at the moment I often go on ski holidays and It takes me forever to get used to the cold. Having not ever heard of heated gloves before, I think these would be a real treat. Are they the best on the market ? I see you give the battery a low mark, I wonder if they are all like this.
    cheers

      James,

Yes they are great for skiing. You can really extend you day on the slopes when you’re not getting cold fingers. That’s the great thing about heated gloves.

I didn’t give the battery on these ones the highest rating but I still rated them decent. The thing to keep in mind is that this glove is very warm and produces really high heat. This mean that you can turn down the heat and still get good warmth out of them while extending the life of the battery.

I wouldn’t say that this pair is too of the line but it is a very good pair of gloves.

      Cheers,

      Robert

Very detailed and thorough review. Its great that you actually have them and tested them yourself against the company’s claims, this builds you a lot of credibility. Where I live we don’t really have a cold winter, but it seems like a great product to have for traveling or giving as a gift for family members who have to endure cold winters. I had never heard of battery powered gloves, but I can see the advantages and you made it really easy for the costumer to see them too.

Thanks very much for the kind words. Most people who live in cold climates haven’t even heard of heated gloves so it’s not a surprise that you haven’t heard of them considering you don’t even live in a cold climate. But you’re absolutely right that these make a great gift.

A lot of people might wish they had a pair but maybe wouldn’t buy them for themselves which is always a sign of a good gift idea. I’m glad you enjoyed this review. Cheers.

Hey! Love your website. It’s very informative and easy on the eye. I come from a tropical climate country so gloves are not important. But your website intrigued me and I looked at it more. Didn’t know there were heated gloves. It makes me wanna travel to other parts of the world just to explore that side of it.

      Eddy,

Ya we get pretty creative here in the cold parts of the world. We have to get creative so that we can continue to go outside and do the things we love no matter what the weather is like. I can truly say that it’s never too cold to do the things you love as long as you’re prepared. Cheers

My stepston, who has Raynauds disease got a pair of these gloves to use while snowboarding. He really liked them because they were lightweight and comfortable. He was a bit disappointed by the battery length. He could only snowboard for a couple of hours before the battery died.

Overall thought he really liked them. Great review, right on par with my stepsons experience.

      Gina,

Yes a lot of people with Raynaud’s use heated gloves. They are great for that. As for the battery, I’m not sure which pair he bought but there are all sorts of different ones on the market. Some of them get poor reviews for the battery life and I’ll try to seek out the ones with the best battery life to review. Cheers.

These would make a great present for a husand if you live in a cold climate. They seem very comfortable and durable. Probably great when shoveling or cleaning snow off the car.

Do they make heated gloves for woman? Are there any you can suggest? I would love a pair, my hands are always cold.

      Hi,

Thanks for the comment and the question. Yes there are plenty of great gloves for women. Actually most of the heated gloves on the market are unisex but there are some that are made specifically with women’s hands in mind.

If you browse through all of my heated gloves reviews you’ll see a lot of good options but I’d like to direct you to the Zanier heated gloves as they have women’s specific gloves and they are an amazing product. Hope that helps.

      Andrey,

These are both good gloves but the Joe Rocket Burner gloves are meant for motorcycle riding and the Tatra’s are not. The main difference is that the Joe Rocket ones are made with safety and protection in mind. So if you’re looking for a motorcycle glove then you should go with the Joe Rocket ones.
