Overview

Gerbing is by far one of the top brands when it comes to heated apparel. I’ve reviewed other Gerbing gloves before and I’ve never been disappointed.

The G4’s are a little bit more expensive than your average pair of heated motorcycle gloves but that’s because they are far better than average.

These gloves are designed with comfort, quality, style and safety in mind. They really are a great well rounded pair of gloves.

The index finger is touchscreen compatible which isn’t all that important to me but I know it is to a lot of people.

Another cool feature of these gloves is the bluetooth function.

bluetooth

That’s right you read it correctly. There is an app that works with these gloves that you can use to control the heat.

Since these gloves are compatible with other Gerbing heated garments you might want to have a little more control over your various pieces of gear.

This app works with ios and Android and it will allow you to select 2 different temperatures for each piece of Gerbing gear that you’re wearing.

In all honesty it seems a little much for me because you’d have to pull over to make any adjustments but hey, if you like to have the latest in technology then this might be perfect for you.

Comfort + Warmth

All gerbing products are designed to be extremely comfortable. These gloves are specifically designed for a woman’s hand.

You will notice that these gloves fit quite close to the hand. What I mean by that is that if you normally wear a size Large, then a Large pair of these gloves might feel a bit tight.

That’s actually a good thing though. You want these gloves to fit tight when you first put them on.

Since they’re made mostly of leather they’ll stretch a bit and conform to the shape of your hand. They should get more and more comfortable as you wear them.

The exterior is made of Premium Aniline Cowhide leather.

There’s an adjustable velcro wrist closure that tightens on a little bit of an angle so that it hugs your hand just right. This should keep the glove comfortable while securing it on your hand.

They have 150 grams of Thinsulate insulation which will keep you warm without being bulky.

They can get away with less insulation because of the heat elements which makes them thinner and gives you really good dexterity for controlling the bike.

If comfort is high on your list of priorities than you’ll love these gloves.

As for warmth these gloves are great as well.

You’ll find that the adjustable heat is nice because the high heat setting is extremely warm. This would allow you to ride at some very cold temperatures without getting cold hands.

Then if the weather gets warmer throughout the day you can just turn the heat down a little.

The leather exterior does a good job of blocking out any wind but there’s also an Aquatex membrane that is windproof as well. Wind will not be a factor when wearing these.

I’m giving them a 20/20 in the comfort category and a 19/20 in the warmth category.

Water Resistance

The leather exterior keeps the water out quite well but leather will only keep the water out up to a certain point.

If you find yourself in heavy rain you’ll be glad you have these gloves on.

The Aquatex membrane is windproof, breathable and of course waterproof. You can be riding in a terential downpour and these glove will keep your hands dry.

You might find that after some time the leather starts to absorb some of the water making them slightly heavy and soggy feeling but this would have to be some pretty heavy rain.

The soggy feeling is never nice but usually heavy rain is a worst case scenario when riding.

For this category I’m giving them a 18/20.

Quality

The quality of a pair of motorcycle gloves is crucial for safety, comfort and value.

With any Gerbing product you don’t have to worry about getting poor quality as they’re one of the top names in the industry.

They’re constructed very well and they’re built to last. All of the materials are top of the line.

If for some off chance you have a problem with your gloves they’ll stand behind their product and give you a refund or exchange without hesitation.

I’m giving them a 19/20 in this category.

Safety

You never want to sacrifice safety when it comes to motorcycle gear.

It doesn’t matter how comfortable or stylish something is because if it’s not safe, you shouldn’t buy it.

A crash is a worst case scenario but you have to be as prepared as you can be for this possibility.

Even a slow speed tip over on a motorcycle can do some serious damage and it’s often the slow, minor crashes that injure the hands the most.

These G4’s have done enough to keep you safe.

The top grade leather will do a great job of preventing road rash on it’s own but they’ve also added impact protective gel pads to the palms for extra protection.

They have reflective piping which will help other drivers spot you in low light.

The tight fit and velcro wrist closure will keep them on your hand in the event of a crash which seems obvious but you’d be suprised how common it is for gloves to come flying off in a crash.

They don’t use carbon fiber or kevlar as a protective material but the leather and gel pads are more than sufficient.

In this category I’m giving them a 18/20.

Fit

Although I had mentioned before that these gloves feel a little tight at first, you should still buy your regular size.

Don’t buy a bigger size than you normally would because you want these gloves to fit tight at first and they’ll loosen up just a little bit after they’ve been worn in.

Even after they’re worn in they should still feel relatively tight.

If you aren’t sure what size you should be wearing have a look at our Sizing Guide.

Final Thoughts

All in all I’d have to say that these are great gloves. They’ve scored really well in all categories.

There are a lot of unisex motorcycle gloves on the market but I think most women will find that women’s specific gloves just have a nicer fit.

I don’t think the app function of these gloves really makes or breaks them but that’s just my opinion. I’ve personally never used a pair of heated gloves with an app so I can’t say that I’d like it or not.

If you’re the type of person who doesn’t care for that type of technology then you don’t really have to worry about it. The fact that they work with bluetooth doesn’t actually affect the gloves in any negative way.

If you don’t use it, you won’t even know it’s there.

I think that these will be a very popular pair of gloves for all different styles of riders.

Whether you’re an advanced rider or just a beginner you’ll love these gloves.

Cheers,

Robert

Womens Heated Gloves – WarmGear 12V

September 5, 2016 by 1 Comment

A lot of heated gloves these days are considered to be unisex but that’s not always for the best. I actually like it when gloves are specified to be either men’s or women’s because then you know they’ll fit really well.

Finding womens heated gloves isn’t exactly difficult because there are a lot of options. The majority of heated motorcycle gloves on the market are considered unisex but a womens specific glove will simply fit better.

Overview

I’ve reviewed other WarmGear heated gloves before but I think these are actually the first pair I’ve reviewed that are made for women specifically.

As I said before, most of the gloves I review are unisex which are fine for both men and women but this pair is designed specificaly for a womans hand.

These gloves are actually really nice. The exterior is made of Grade A, Top Grain cowhide which makes them comfortable, durable and flexible.

They have a kevlar reinforced palm which helps with grip as well as safety.

The heat is distributed throughout the entire length of each finger as well as the back of the hand.

The reason they put the heating elements on the back of the hand is so that you can’t feel any discomfort when you grip the throttle or grips. This is very common for heated motorcycle gloves.

Another great thing about WarmGear heated gloves is that they are totally compatible with Heat-Troller, Warm & Safe, Harley-Davidson, and Gerbing Heated Clothing, coax connectors and accessories.

Comfort + Warmth

These gloves will be just as comfortable, if not more comfortable than any heated motorcycle gloves out there.

Anytime a pair of gloves is made from mostly leather you can be confident that they’ll be not only comfortable when you first buy them but they’ll get more comfortable as you break them in.

They’ve used kevlar for reinforcements on the palm which is a very light weight material as to not sacrifice comfort.

The lining is a soft synthetic material that also feels great on the hands.

The come equipped with an adjustable wrist enclosure and an adjustable cuff so that you can snug them up to your hand and wrist however you like.

The cuff is big enough that it can go over most jacket sleeves but it’s also small enough that you can tuck it under no problem.

These gloves only have one heat setting and it’s very hot. You’ll feel the heat very quickly after turning them on and you’ll find that your hands will stay warm even on the coldest days.

The leather exterior keeps the wind out completely and they’re filled with Thinsulate insulation which holds the heat in really well.

You can even use these gloves without the heat and they’ll still be pretty warm.

Since they only have one setting you’ll have to switch between on and off in order to regulate the temperature but this is pretty easy to do even while riding.

I’m giving these gloves a 19/20 for comfort and a 19/20 warmth.

Water Resistance

These are equipped with a membrane that is waterproof, breathable and windproof so you could wear these in heavy rain if need be.

The leather exterior will repel most of the water on it’s own but in serious rain it might start to sneak through.

Fortunately the membrane is 100% waterproof so your hands will stay dry no matter what.

One thing that could happen after some time in heavy rain is that the leather could start to absorb a little bit of water.

This makes them a little heavy and soggy feeling which affects the comfort somewhat but at least your hands will be dry.

In this category I’m giving them a 18/20.

Quality

As with any WarmGear gloves these ones are good quality.

They use high end materials like kevlar and Grade A leather which will stand up to heavy wear and tear for a long time.

The velcro strap feels strong and durable as does the drawstring.

The stitching looks very tight and strong and it gives me plenty of confidence that these gloves will last a long time.

I know WarmGear stands behind their products and they are good about returns just in case you have a problem but I really doubt you will have any issues with these.

I’m giving them a 18/20 in this category.

Safety

These gloves were absolutely made with safety in mind. The premium leather they’ve used is one of the best materials for reducing road rash.

In addition to the leather they’ve added kevlar on the palm and the back of the hand which will help a great deal in the event of a crash.

A lot of extreme gloves are using carbon fiber nowadays for safety in the high impact zones like the palm and knuckles. These gloves decided to go with kevlar instead which makes them a lot more comfortable.

The carbon fiber does perform better in crash testing but the kevlar/leather combination performs very well too and I think most people would agree that these are very safe gloves.

The adjustable velcro strap will allow you to tighten these to the point that they wouldn’t fall off in the event of a crash which is very important.

I’m giving these a 18/20 in this category.

Fit

These gloves fit true to size but if you aren’t sure what size you need you should have a look at our Sizing Guide just to be safe.

If you truly are between sizes it’s always a good idea to get the bigger size rather than the small.

Final Thoughts

You really can’t go wrong with these gloves. I’d put them up against any heated motorcycle gloves and I think they would perform well.

If you really want an extreme glove that is more technical then you might not want to go for these gloves.

They are however a good overall glove for a fair price that will work in most riding conditions.

As a motorcycle rider you always have to be prepared for the unexpected. Even when there is nothing but blue sky in sight you will be surprised how fast a rain storm can pop up.

The fingers on these gloves aren’t touchscreen compatible and the thumb doesn’t have a shield squeegie material on it so if you want those things you’ll have to look elsewhere.

I have total confidence in these gloves and I think they will be a great glove for a long time if you choose to buy them.

Please feel free to as me any questions or leave comments using the box below and I’ll be sure to respond ASAP.

Cheers,

Robert
