Heritage Extreme Winter Glove Overview

My first impression of the Heritage Extreme Winter Gloves is that it’s a fairly trendy, sleek looking glove, made with both practicality and fashion in mind.

The glove only comes in one color, black which doesn’t make it particularly flashy, but that’s not what this glove is about.

When you first try the glove on one of the thing that comes to mind is that it is very thick.

It’s a matter of personal opinion whether you’re a fan of a thick glove or not but if you don’t mind it then the Heritage Extreme Winter Gloves just might be for you because they certainly are warm.

Comfort

The glove features a thick polar fleece liner which is extremely soft and makes the glove incredibly comfortable to wear.

The Extreme Winter Gloves also have elasticated wrist cuffs ensuring the gloves are fixed securely in position while wearing them and shouldn’t move too much when using your hands.

The elasticated cuffs also ensures that all winds and cold air cannot enter the glove through the opening.

I also found the sizing to be very true to size. I would normally take a size 10 and they fit perfectly.

Warmth

The Heritage Extreme Winter Gloves have a 70 grams, 3M thinsulate insulation which is bonded to thick polar fleece for additional warmth.

Although they certainly don’t have to be just used for it’s intended purpose, the gloves are promoted as riding gloves.

In fact Heritage, the manufacturers claim that the Extreme Winter Gloves are some of the warmest riding gloves around.

You have to remember what these gloves are made for before you start forming an opinion of the warmth of these gloves compared to other winter gloves.

The reason I say that is because there are other gloves that may be warmer than these but since these gloves are low profile and tight fitting they’re perfect for working or riding.

In that category I’d say these gloves truly hit the mark. Even when I compare them to other winter work gloves these ones are just as warm and certainly more durable

Water Resistance

Water resistance is one category where the Extreme Winter Gloves do not fail to impress.

They have a very sophisticated four layer waterproofing system which is sure to keep your hands dry in all conditions.

This coupled with the 3M Thinsulate insulation the gloves keep your hands fairly warm, definitely not as warm as I expected but there is some warmth to them nevertheless and one things for sure, your hands won’t get damp.

The water resistant qualities also don’t prevent the gloves from being breathable which is always good.

Any moisture passes straight through the membranes to prevent a build up of sweat Features Despite the Extreme Winter Gloves being just okay in heat retention they do feature a zipper pocket which will fit a hand warmer to get that extra warmth.

After my hands began to get cold I did employ my second tactic of using disposable hand warmers in the zipper pocket which did help but of course it’s not great to have to rely on hand warmers for gloves to be sufficient.

The gloves are touch screen friendly, cementing their position as an everyday glove rather than something for more extreme conditions.

This makes the glove perfect for less extreme work or simple for warmth when out for short periods of time.

To top everything off the Heritage Extreme Winter Gloves features a durable palm grip.

In all honesty it doesn’t feel durable enough to be using them frequently in ways that will test their strength however the grip does feel durable enough in order to make the glove good value for money.

Final Thoughts

The Heritage Extreme Winter Glove are built to withstand a heavy duty work environment with tools, equipment and of course horses and for those things the definitely hit the mark.

In addition to being able to withstand those environments they are able to keep your hands warm and dry while doing it so I’d say they’re a success.

In cold weather there’s also the option of using a hand warmer in the zipper pocket to increase warmth which is a nice bonus.

It’s also important to highlight the quality of the waterproofing of the glove, in my opinion it’s not far from being simply faultless.

If you’re looking for a pair of gloves for everyday use or for ranching or the trades, the Heritage Extreme Winter Glove is definitely worth considering.
