If you’ve ever been to this website before you know we’re totally obsessed with heated gear.
Usually I write about gloves but today I want to talk about the best way to keep your toes warm while recreating in the winter.
Yep you guessed it, I’m talking about heated socks.
They’re now available for men and women and they’re fabulous. I don’t throw around the word “fabulous” very often but I really need to convey to you how awesome it is having your toes heated no matter where you are or what you’re doing.
If you’ve ever tried heated gloves before then you know how nice it is to get that extra warmth. It can be the difference between a cold, miserable day and a glorious, adventure filled day.
If you’re wondering which brand to choose or where the best place to buy them is, just click the link below and it will take you to a custom list of the best options.
Top Heated Socks For Men And Women
Personally I suffer from cold toes the most when I’m skiing. I’ve tried heat packs but they just don’t feel very good in my boots.
I’ve also tried all the high end, expensive socks that claim to keep your feet warm but on a really cold day there’s no material that can do the job.
Before I discovered heated socks my best method for keeping my toes warm while skiing was just to wiggle them constantly while sitting on the chair lift.
This is an old school technique and while it may help a little bit I think it’s more effort than it’s worth.
I have to admit that before I discovered heated socks there were days that I would count down the hours until I could take off my boots and warm up my toes.
The problem with this is that when I should be focusing on enjoying the day I’m really just suffering and waiting for it to end. This took a lot of the pleasure out of skiing and I now have a new found appreciation for skiing.
Not Just Skiing
I know I’ve been focusing a lot on the benefits that heated socks have on skiing but there are so many occasions when they come in handy.
Obviously snowboarding too but that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Recently I wrote an article about snow sleds for adults and I got a huge response from people saying how much they used to love sledding and how they’d love to get back into it as an adult.
Well fortunately there are some amazing sleds out there that are made specifically for adults and they will blow your mind. You can check out that article by clicking here.
Anyways, my point is that heated socks are great for sledding too but that goes without saying.
One of the biggest complaints I get from readers is that they get cold toes while driving in the winter.
Winter driving comes with a lot of challenges but usually when we think about the challenges we think about the icy roads, the poor visibility or the other reckless drivers.
Our comfort can take a backseat (pun intended) to our safety.
Not to say that safety isn’t extremely important but focusing on safety doesn’t mean that you have to be uncomfortable.
We all know that cars have heaters and they usually keep us warm enough but our toes have the least amount of circulation and most of the heat from the car rises to the top anyways.
This can result in cold feet.
Actually what usually happens to me is my upper body is over heating because I have the heat cranked in an attempt to warm up my toes and then I start to sweat.
With heated socks you can keep the car heater on low and turn up the heat on your socks which is actually much more efficient. Not to mention you don’t have to deal with the loud noise of the car heater fan.
Heated Socks For Sporting Events
We’ve all been there. You’re sitting on the sidelines or bleachers of a sporting event freezing your @ss off trying to enjoy the game but all you can think about is how cold you are.
This might actually be the most common activity that people take part in where they are freezing cold but just suffer through it either because they’re a passionate fan or just a supportive family member of an athlete.
I’ve been there many many times and as much as I love it there have been days where I just wanted to go home.
I first discovered heated gloves which made this experience much more tolerable.
Then I discovered heated socks and now I’m one of the few people in the bleachers that is actually warm.
Here’s my winter sporting event tickle truck…..
- Heated Gloves
- Heated Socks
- Blanket
- Seat cushion
- Hot coffee
If I have these items I won’t even be thinking about the temperature. In fact I’m usually so proud of myself for having the right equipment that I enjoy the experience that much more.
Okay you get it. I like heated socks.
I already gave you a link to the best brands of heated socks and where to buy them but in case you missed it I’ll add one right below here at the end of this article.
