These socks are all extremely versatile because of the fact that they’re heated by a portable electric battery, so no need to plug any of them into a 12V battery like a lot of the heated socks you see online.
Just charge them up and you can take them anywhere you want.
I guess the only setback is the fact that you have to make sure that you have them all charged up and ready to go for each day.
I find it’s best to just plug them in at night before you go to sleep so they’re ready to go for the next morning, just like with heated gloves.
Below you’ll see a comparison table that I made up for you and below that I’ve gone into detail and reviewed each pair so you can decide for yourself which pair is right for you.
I tried to score them objectively and of course just because I like one pair the best, doesn’t mean you will. I hope my reviews are helpful.
I gave them all a score out of 100 and that’s something I came up with based on warmth, quality, comfort and battery life.
I used those factors because I think they’re the most important factors for a good pair of heated socks also I didn’t want to use price as a scoring factor because I don’t like to project my personal price views onto others.
So each of those factors is scored out of 25 for a combined total score out of 100.

These Lectra heated socks performed really well. What I really like about these ones is that the battery pack can be attached to your belt or left in your pocket.
Most heated socks have the battery pack attached to the top of the sock which is fine but that does create one small problem. The weight of the battery pack causes the sock to slide down and can cause some discomfort.
It’s not a huge problem with heated socks but this style eliminates that issue altogether.
I like the feel of these socks. They’re a wool blend which is perfect for winter conditions and super comfy.
They go pretty high, higher than I expected from the picture. On me they went a few inches below the knew and I bought the Large/XL. I’m 6’2″ for reference.
These socks don’t come with a rechargeable battery. Instead they run off of two D cell batteries which really comes down to preference.
The benefit of using D cell batteries is that you can go on a two or three night back country trip and you don’t have to worry about charging your battery pack.
The drawback of course is that you have to lug around a bunch of heavy batteries and then there’s the cost of replacing batteries all the time too.
So it comes down to preference whether you would rather charge a battery or not.
Another thing to note is that there is no dial for the heat, they are either on or off.
All in all these are good socks. I gave them a respectable score of 78/100.

If you’ve ever been on this website before then you probably already know that I’m a huge fan of the Volt brand. I’ve tested dozens of their heated gloves and they all score very high so I have high hopes and expectations for these socks.
They’re available in gray or black and they come in all different sizes. As with most heated socks these ones are unisex.
You’ll notice that the price changes depending on the size but you would think that the small size would be the cheapest and the XL would be the most expensive ones but that’s not the way it works.
The Large is actually the most expensive and I’m guessing this has to do with demand but I’m not totally sure.
Unlike the Lectra’s these ones have a built in battery that you have to charge before every use and of course it comes with the charger too.
There’s a simple On/Off switch which makes it really simple to use and the button is big enough that you can press it with bulky gloves on which is nice.
These ones come equipped with 4 power settings so you can choose the heat level you want. Here’s how long the battery lasts on each different setting.
100% High Setting = 3+ Hours
75% Medium/High Setting = 4.5 Hours
50% Medium/Low Setting = 6 Hours
25% Low = 10 Hours
These are good numbers. You really won’t need them on the high setting constantly because it’s pretty hot and you don’t want your feet to sweat.
I find that most people are happy switching between Low, Medium/Low and Off.
Since the control button is so easy to operate while on the go you’ll be able to change the temperature often so that your feet are always just right.
I felt like the quality of these socks met my expectations and then some. The stitching is very tight and strong feeling and the material is soft but tough.
They’re made with a moisture wicking polyester which will keep your feet dry but they also have spandex interlock fabric that will form to your foot right away for maximum comfort.
The two small lithium ion batteries fit nicely into a pocket on the front of the sock and they’re light and low profile so they shouldn’t bug you at all.
The charger has two plugs so that you can charge them both at the same time and it takes about 5 hours to fully charge them from completely drained.
As I said before when talking about the Lectra socks, sometimes the weight of the batteries on heated socks can cause the socks to slide down your legs causing some discomfort.
These ones have remedied that issue with a drawstring at the top of the socks. You just cinch it up snug so they don’t slide down.
I really like these gloves which is why I gave them a great score of 88/100.

If you see these socks on Amazon you’ll probably notice that a lot of people are saying some pretty bad stuff about them and so you’re probably wondering why I’ve put them on this list.
Well I have to say that I didn’t have the same results as the reviewers online. I had actually very good results and I am happy with these which is why I consider them one of the best battery heated socks.
They aren’t perfect and the quality isn’t as high as the Volt socks but the price is also much lower so that makes sense.
I found them to be really comfortable and stylish.
The heat reaches the balls of your feet and the toes unlike what one of the reviewers said.
The battery life was almost exactly what they advertised online and they charged up in about 6 hours right from dead.
All in all, I was happy with these gloves, especially for the price.

Now we’ve reached the pinnacle of heated socks. These Lenz 1200 heat socks are my absolute favorite.
This is actually the first Lenz product I’ve ever tried and I’m very impressed, although they are not cheap.
What I like the most about these socks is they heat in the perfect area, the toes. The heat elements completely surround the toes encapsulating them in warmth so there’s no chance they’ll get cold.
This feature alone makes these socks stand out from the others on this list but the goodness doesn’t stop there as they pretty much knock it out of the park in every category.
There are 3 heat settings and the hottest of the three is almost too hot, but I guess it would be nice on an extremely cold day.
The battery pack attaches to a band on the top of the socks and they are small and lightweight so they don’t cause any discomfort. In fact you can barely notice them once they’re on.
The heat can be controlled with the buttons on the battery pack but for extra convenience they can also be controlled with a smart phone via bluetooth.
This is the only brand of heated socks that has bluetooth technology and it works really well. I loved it.
They are machine washable but just make sure you follow the instructions so that you don’t damage them.
The batteries last for 14 hours if you have them on the low setting which is better than any that I’ve come across yet. This is probably the biggest selling feature for these cause you can go all day with them on.
The quality of them is amazing. You can wash them over and over and they keep on performing. If you browse the Lenz website you’ll also see that they have a whole lineup of heated socks and other heated products.
This is German engineering at it finest. I would not hesitate to say that these are the best battery heated socks money can buy.

These Flambeau socks are very good. I’m familiar with this brand as I reviewed a pair of Flambeau Heated Gloves last winter and I was impressed with them too.
These are a blend of wool, polyester and cotton so they are very comfortable and warm even without the heat turned on.
They’re powered by 2 3.7V lithium-ion batteries so they make very good heat.
The heat is focused on the toes and the balls of your feet which is normal and effective but not quite as nice as the Lenz socks where the heat wraps all around your toes.
As you can see in the photo the heat is only focused on the bottom.
The heating elements are small carbon fiber wires. They’re so small that you can’t even tell they’re there, well until the heat turns on of course.
They’re pretty comfortable. I thought they were a little less comfortable than just a normal pair of socks but not too bad.
Charging time is about 7 hours if the batteries are completely drained.
On a full charge you should get about 10 hours on the lowest setting and 3 hours on the highest setting.
I found the highest setting to be quite hot and for most conditions it was actually too hot and the medium setting felt better.
All in all they’re good socks.

These socks actually have some similarities to the Flambeau socks in the sense that they have the same size battery and the heat is distributed with the same elements.
That’s where the similarities end and I really thought that these Meister socks were great value. If I had to choose one pair that was the best bang for your buck theses would be the ones.
They’re made up of a blend of wool, cotton and spandex which makes them more comfortable than the Flambeau’s and slightly thinner which is nice.
They have a small pocket on the top outside to hold the battery in place but there’s no band to keep them up so you might find that the weight of the battery pulls them down when you’re active.
This isn’t too big of a deal especially if you’re wearing boots because the top of the boots will hold the battery in place.
The heat distribution and battery life was pretty much identical to the Flambeau’s.
So for $20 less you can actually get a better pair of socks with these. Highly recommend.

You may have already read my review on the Warmawear Dual Fuel heated gloves and if so then you’re already familiar with the concept of the “Dual Fuel”.
They call them Dual Fuel because you can use two different kinds of heat with them.
- Electric battery heat
- Disposable heat packs
You can use those heat packs that you shake and then stuff them in your glove or in your shoe, then they heat up.
Only with the Dual Fuel there is a special pocket designed for holding heat packs in place so that they don’t slide around.
With these particular socks the pocket for the heat packs is right on the top of the toes.
It’s not a terrible idea. You can really stretch out the amount of time you get heat with this method because once the battery runs out you can start using the heat pack and that will get you another 12 hours of heat.
My only issue with this method is that the heat packs aren’t comfortable. I always wear footwear that fits snug to my feet so there isn’t much room for heat packs.
So when I put the heat packs in it just isn’t comfortable.
But still not a terrible idea and I’m sure some of you won’t mind the feeling of a heat pack in your shoe.
These don’t come with a rechargeable battery instead they use 6 AA batteries which is not ideal but it works.
All in all these socks are pretty good but they lost a lot of points in the comfort category.

These Thermedic heated socks use infrared heat using a heated pad that fits inside the sock.
They take 4 AAA batteries and the battery box sits in a little pocket at the back/top of the socks. So this is the third pair of socks on this list that uses disposable batteries instead of rechargeable.
As I said before, they each have their benefits but my preference is rechargeable batteries.
The way the pad fits into the sock isn’t ideal with these socks and that would be my only complaint because it can bunch up and cause discomfort.
For that reason I wouldn’t recommend these for physical activity because they will for sure bunch. But just around the house they work well.
The most positive about these socks is probably the infrared heat. It’s very nice and soothing. All in all these are good quality socks that will certainly do the trick.
Final Thoughts
I hope you found a pair that suits your needs and lifestyle. Please note that any electronics can have issues and if you have a problem with your socks you can always return them or exchange them.
I’ve talked to all of the companies selling each of these pairs of socks and they all say that they will happily do exchanges or returns if there is a problem.
With that being said, they’re all very reputable companies and I don’t foresee any issues with them.
My personal favorite pair is the Lenz socks because they were the most comfortable and the heat was the hottest.
