Global Vasion Heated Gloves REVIEW – Are They Worth It?

January 9, 2018 by 6 Comments

In this Global Vasion Heated Gloves review I'm going to answer all of your questions about these gloves like....Are They Good? Are They Worth It? How Do They Work?

A lot of people are skeptical about heated gloves technology but I assure you they are amazing as long as you get the right pair.

So I'm going to cover all the important things that you should be looking for when seeking out a good pair of heated gloves.

If you're having a tough time deciding which gloves are right for you then you should take my Glove Selection Quiz. It's an 8 question quiz that will help you choose the right heated gloves for your needs.

I'll also note that there are actually two different pairs of Global Vasion heated gloves on the market.

For the sake of this review I'm talking about the more expensive of the two but if you scroll down to the bottom I'll do a comparison of the two so you can see the difference.

Global Vasion Heated Gloves Overview

These Global Vasion Heated gloves are a really big seller on Amazon and I think I've figured out the main reason why they sell so well........Low Price.

You might think I'm crazy for saying these are a low price because they're actually more expensive than a lot of gloves on the market.

So the reason I'm saying these gloves are a low price is because I'm comparing them to other heated gloves rather than traditional, NON-heated gloves.

If you compare these to other heated gloves these ones are actually on the low end of the price spectrum.

These gloves are much cheaper than any of the high end brand name heated gloves.

So the question is, "How do they compare to the high end gloves"?

In a word, the answer is OK.

When compared to high end gloves from brands like Outdoor Research, Lenz, Volt and Gerbing these gloves did OK, especially considering they're half the price.

With that being said, there are some major drawbacks. Here are the Pros and Cons that stood out to me.

PROS

  • check
    Low Price
  • check
    Water Resistant
  • check
    Great Heat
  • check
    3 Heat Settings

CONS

  • Poor Dexterity
  • Non Touchscreen
  • Short Battery Life
  • No Drawstring

Comfort & Warmth

I won't beat around the bush, these gloves are really warm and if that's your number one priority then you'll be happy with these.

They're advertised to heat up to 150°F on the highest setting and I can't say whether or not that's true because I have no way of measuring it but I will say that they get really warm.

Not hot to the point of burning your skin or anything but very warm in the sense that you won't have cold hands even if the temperature dips down to -20°F.

The insulation is pretty thick which helps to keep that cozy heat inside the gloves.

The heat runs along the back of the hand and down the back of each finger and thumb.

As for comfort, well there are some drawbacks here.

Since there is so much insulation I found that it was a little hard to grab things like jacket zippers or buttons. This wasn't ideal.

The gauntlet is a medium sized gauntlet but it doesn't have a drawstring so you can't tighten it around the outside of your sleeve.

This means that you pretty much have to tuck it under your sleeve and that isn't too comfy since it's not a small gauntlet.

The interior lining is a cotton blend and it feels pretty good on the skin but it would be better if it was a soft fleece or something like that.

For warmth I'm giving them a 18/20 and for comfort I'm giving them a 14/20.

Water Resistance

Global Vasion describes the shell as a "water resistance shell" which just sounds like a grammar mistake.

I think they're trying to play these gloves off as "good for wet conditions" but I would have to disagree with that.

From my experience these gloves absorbed water quite quickly and I had wet hands in no time at all.

They became heavy and soggy pretty much as soon as I started handling snow.

So don't buy these gloves if you need something for wet conditions.

For this category I'm giving these gloves a 10/20.

Quality

Global Vasion isn't a very well known brand in the heated gloves industry.

I've heard of this company because I reviewed a heated jacket that they make and it actually made in onto my Top 10 Heated Jackets list.

Since I had that prior experience with the heated jacket and it was overall a good experience I did have some confidence that these gloves would be decent quality and I was right.

They stood up to wear and tear quite well and after inspecting them I would say that they're well made with good attention to detail.

The stitching is tight and strong and all the zippers and buckles seem strong too.

Overall I'm giving them a 17/20 in this category.

Battery

Battery life is one of the biggest complaints people have when buying heated gloves and I think that's because so many people buy low quality gloves expecting them to be great.

Global Vasion is pretty transparent about what you should expect from the battery life.

As you can see in the diagram they claim to get between 2-2.5 hours of heat at the highest setting and between 4-5 hours on the lowest setting.

This is actually pretty close to what my results were when I tested these gloves but you have to remember there are some variables with this.

The colder the weather is the harder the batteries have to work in order to maintain a temperature.

So the measurements they gave us are accurate and I had similar results but you might have different results depending on how cold the temperature is outside.

All in all these batteries did alright, definitely not as good as my Top Pick gloves but still reasonable especially considering the price.

For this category I'm giving these gloves a 16/20.

Fit

These gloves actually fit true to size in my opinion. If you aren't sure what size you should be ordering have a look at my sizing guide.

Final Thoughts

All said and done I think these gloves are pretty good value. You have to remember that it's much more costly to fabricate heated gloves than non-heated gloves so naturally they're more expensive.

If warmth is your main concern then these might just be the perfect pair for you because they really are warm.

As I said earlier, these are just one of two pairs of gloves that Global Vasion makes.

The other pair of gloves they make are actually cheaper than these and so I promised I would explain the difference between the two of them.

The main difference is that the cheaper ones only have one heat setting rather than 3.

Basically they only have an on and an off setting.

This makes them much more basic and less functional. I wouldn't recommend buying any pair of heated gloves that doesn't have the capability to change the heat setting.

The other difference is that the cheaper ones are also touchscreen compatible which is nice but I don't think it makes up for the lack of heat settings.

Hopefully these Global Vasion heated gloves decide to make their main gloves touchscreen compatible.

Thanks very much for stopping by today and I hope this review was helpful for you.
