OZERO Winter Gloves Overview

The OZERO Winter Gloves are designed to be the ultimate low cost method to having warm hands in bitter cold conditions.

The designers, OZERO have created a glove aimed at being incredibly comfortable and practical, but also with a stylish edge given the color varieties. The Winter Gloves come in 3 different color varieties; denim-black, gray-black and my personal favourite tan-black.

First impressions of the glove are that it’s aimed at more casual wearers, those who aren’t going to be out in freezing conditions for extended periods of time but rather people who need a quick fix when out and about.

If you’re more interested in finding the best possible gloves on the market, then you should read my article 10 Best Ski Gloves.

Comfort

These gloves are a dream to wear. Like soft marshmallows on your hands the soft polar fleece makes wearing these gloves a pleasurable experience.

The OZERO Winter Gloves are however not always true to size and so this can lead to some discomfort.

I myself found and others online have indicated that the gloves come up slightly larger than you’d expect and so it may be a good idea to order a size smaller than you normally would for gloves.

Although it largely comes down to how you choose to wear the gloves. If you’re looking to use the OZERO Winter Gloves as an outer layer for your hands, a larger size will be necessary in order to allow for inner gloves to also be worn and so in this case the gloves will be true to size.

But if you wish to wear the gloves as an inner layer or by themselves, it’s likely that you will require a smaller size in order to achieve maximum comfort.

Have a look at our sizing guide if you’re still unsure about what size to order.

Warmth

For me warmth is the main downfall for the OZERO Winter gloves.

OZERO claims that the gloves have a temperature rating of -20 fahrenheit, which I simply cannot believe to be true.

Perhaps when used in conjunction with another glove layer they would be suitable at this temperature but when worn alone, they simply don’t make the cut.

After approximately half an hour in freezing temperatures my hands began to get colder and colder to the point where the gloves just weren’t good enough and I needed to take other measures to ensure my hands remained warm.

The OZERO Winter Gloves include a ‘Heatlok Thermal Layer’ consisting of hollow fibres and microfiber which aims to trap air and so create a thermal barrier between your hands and the cold air.

Although I do believe that this system does work to a certain extent, it certainly isn’t good enough for temperatures as cold as OZERO claim.

Water Resistance

The gloves are not made to be water resistant. I found the thermal fleece material of the gloves also absorbed moisture and so these gloves are certainly not designed for use in situations where they may become damp.

When damp they will if anything make your hands colder, as in freezing conditions dampness may turn into ice.

However this isn’t a reason to write the gloves off, after all they are very low cost and there will be many times where gloves are needed and it’s not either raining or snowing.

If the OZERO Winter Gloves were worn as an inner glove layer the lack of water resistance may not actually be an issue at all when worn with a waterproof outer.

Features

OZERO Winter Gloves boast various fantastic features which aim to create the ultimate budget cold weather glove. The palm area features deer suede leather which gives the glove a solid grip, as well as making the palms more durable and so the glove overall longer lasting.

Aside from deer suede leather the remainder of the glove is formed from polar fleece which gives the glove it’s distinctive thickness.

OZERO also claim that this polar fleece coupled with their headlock technology gives the gloves thermal properties and makes the gloves suitable for temperatures as low as -20 fahrenheit, but as previously discussed I simply don’t believe this to be true.

The gloves also feature an elastic wrist cuff for added comfort and to keep cold winds out.

One feature that is clearly missing from these gloves is the capability of using a touchscreen device with them on.

There are plenty of other gloves that will work with such devices but you will not get that with these OZERO gloves.

Final Thoughts

The OZERO Winter Gloves are perfect for the casual user and are fantastic value for money. However they do also have some fatal flaws and not everything they claim to do is entirely true.

If you’re looking for gloves that are a quick fix when doing shopping in town or walking the dog over a short distance then the OZERO Winter Gloves might just be perfect for you.

However if you work outside in cold temperatures or often use freezers then perhaps you should be looking for a higher quality, warmer glove.

Overall, a good budget glove which can be warmer when worn with other layers but alone it isn’t anything too special.

Thanks very much for stopping by today. If you have any questions or comments please use the field below and I’ll be sure to respond ASAP.

Cheers,

Robert

I am very unhappy with my Ozero gloves. I was really counting on them protecting my fingertips when out in freezing cold weather – I live in NJ not the Arctic. My fingertips however start hurting after around 15 minutes of walking outside. Very upset

      Karen,

I’m sorry you aren’t happy with your gloves. I actually agree with you that they aren’t very warm. You can even see in this review that I was also disappointed with the warmth of these gloves. They are OK for the price and they would be fine in certain conditions but when it gets really cold they won’t quite do the trick.

        Hi,
I purchased a pair of your gloves on Jan 2. Why does it take a month or two to receive them??

What brand of gloves for women would you recommend for those of us who need real warmth in the cold months? I’m not having any luck finding any that keep my hands and especially my fingers from freezing 🙁

      Cheryl,

I would recommend heated gloves if you’re really struggling to keep your hands warm. Have a look at my list of the best heated gloves.

I just purchased these ozero gloves and used them yesterday 2/14/19 ant the temp was 11 degree wind chill -7 degrees. I only lasted 30 minutes outside and my fingers were freezing especially the index with the touch free leather on it. These gloves are tagged with a minimum of 30 degree temp below zero protection. I’m sick of all these glove companies lying to people about their products. I’ve purchased several pairs of different gloves even the swany ski gloves that suck too. Don’t buy OZER GLOVES AND ESPECIALLY DON’T BUY FROM AMAZON, NO HASSLE FREE RETURNS MY ASS. AS SOON AS YOU CUT THE TAGS YOU’RE SCREWED.

Thank you for this review and the comments. I have Renaud syndrome and suffer from the cold. On top of that 12 rounds of chemo lowered my cold resistance to the point of 7 minutes of snow shovelling becomes painful at the end. These gloves were on my Amazon list and will be removed. Now I have to start over again. I live in the Upper Ottawa Valley in Ontario where winter starts at the beginning of Nov. and hangs around, sometimes, until the end of Apr.
