Firstgear Motorcycle Apparel
FirstGear motorcycle apparel is some of the highest quality gear that you can buy today. This is an American company that is completely obsessed with anything and everything to do with motorcycling.
Here’s a short video showing you a few of their products in action.
Based on this video it looks like FirstGear’s main focus is duel sport riding but that’s slightly misleading because they actually manufacture gear for all different types of riding.
I’ve owned many different styles of motorcycles over the years and I’ve always been able to find a FirstGear jacket, pants or pair of gloves that suits my style of riding.
Here’s a quote I pulled from their website.
“Whether it’s the open road or the road less traveled, no other experience provides the thrill and passion for living that riding does. It’s a uniquely human experience. At Firstgear, we create products that enhance the pure joy of riding. We keep you warm when it’s cold, dry when it’s wet and cool when it’s hot. When all you feel is the thrill of the ride – we’ve done our job.”
They specialize in Jackets, Pants, Boots and Gloves and Socks so you can pretty much cover yourself from top to bottom in their gear if you so desire.
One of the main reasons I was originally attracted to this company is because of their line of heated gloves. Once I discovered their heated gloves I got hooked on all of their heated gear.
FirstGear Heated Clothing
The awesome thing about FirstGear heated motorcycle clothing is that it’s all compatible together so you can just plug them into each other and your entire body can be heated.
I know this is common when it comes to heated motorcycle gear but the point is that if you’re planning on buying some heated gear you’ll want to find one brand you like and stick with it so that it’s all compatible.
In my opinion, Firstgear heated clothing is as good as it gets and the prices are very reasonable so you’d be well taken care of if you decided to go this route.
Sure some different brands will have the same plugs that are compatible with one another but you also want to take into consideration the location of the plugs. If they aren’t in the right spot it can affect your comfort or it may not even reach at all.
I’ll show you a few of the top FirstGear heated garments that I chose based on my own experience as well as other reviews that I’ve found online.
I’ve found a pair of heated glove liners, heated gloves, a heated jacket, heated pants and a pair of heated socks. To find out where the best place to buy them is and get the most competitive prices you can click this link.
Heated Glove Liners – FirstGear 95-2966
These glove liners are the only ones that Firstgear makes and I don’t see any need for them to make any other pairs since these are a great pair of gloves and you can’t really expect anything else from a pair of heated liners.
They fit just a little bit small so you might want to order one size up if you’re between sizes but you do want them to fit snug so that you can wear them under another pair of gloves if need be.
You can check our sizing guide if you’re unsure of what size you require.
These gloves are made of 95% polyester and 5% spandex so they’re very thin with a lot of stretch to them and they’re so low profile that you barely know you have them on.
One thing you need to remember about heated liners is that they’re meant to be worn underneath protective gloves so on their own they don’t offer very much protection.
But these gloves put out a lot of heat and they will most definitely keep your hands warm especially when worn under another pair pf gloves.
FirstGear Heated Gloves
There are two pairs of heated gloves that I’ve tried from FirstGear and they’re really not all that different from one another.
First there’s the FirstGear Rider which is a leather glove with plenty of protection in the form of extra layers of leather in the high impact areas of the hand.
They have Thinsulate insulation and provide 15 watts of heat output for each hand. The heat runs all along the fingers, the thumb and the back of the hand.
The fingers are pre-curved for a comfortable fit while gripping the handlebar and they’re very low profile so that using the bike controls is very easy.
They also have a waterproof membrane so they’ll keep your hands dry even in a downpour.
They have a medium sized gauntlet which means they can either go over top of your sleeves or under them depending on your preference.
The plug can be used either directly to the batter itself or else you can plug it into a compatible FirstGear jacket.
The second pair of heated gloves I’ve tried is the FirstGear Carbon Street glove.
This glove is equipped with the same waterproof membrane and the same cow-hide leather as the Rider. They also have a similar gauntlet and the exact same electrical components.
The main differences between these gloves and the Rider is the carbon fiber knuckle and the slightly lower profile.
So these gloves will provide a little bit more protection, they’ll be slightly less warm and they’ll have a more sleek appearance thanks to the lower profile.
So it’s totally personal preference as some riders like the lower profile look or the carbon fiber knuckle but some don’t. It’s up to the individual.
FirstGear 90 Watt Heated Jacket
The only FirstGear heated jacket I’ve tried so far is the 90 watt heated jacket liner.
This jacket comes in many different sizes and comes in a men’s grey or a women’s red.
It can be worn on it’s own or with the compatible gloves and you can see the connectors coming out of each sleeve in the picture above.
I found this jacket to fit really nice and it was very comfortable so I didn’t mind wearing it on long rides even if I wasn’t using the heat.
It’s pretty versatile because you can just wear it under your regular jacket and you’ll be comfortable even if you don’t need the heat but then as the temperature drops you can switch it on.
Be aware that this is not a protective jacket at all. There is no padding or abrasion resistant materials so you probably shouldn’t wear it on it’s own.
It’s thin and snug fitting so it’s meant to be worn under another jacket.
FirstGear Heated Pants
These FirstGear heated pants are exactly what you need for cold weather riding, nothing more and nothing less. I’d definitely say these are a no frills, no gimmicks pair of pants.
They might be basic and simple but isn’t that what you want when looking for heated pants?
These are not meant to be worn on their own as they’re just a liner and not a protective garment by any means. Not only that but they look kind of funny on their own too.
Much like the jacket they’re meant to fit snug and close to the body so that the heat can be easily transferred to your body.
They have a handy side pull cord to tighten them just right and there are men and women versions as the sizes are different.
The heat zones cover your thighs, knees and butt which are always the first areas to get cold.
Nothing fancy but they really do warm up nicely and of course they’re compatible with the FirstGear heated jacket as well as the FirstGear heated socks which I’ll talk about next.
FirstGear Heated Socks
These socks are 9 watts each and they bring heat right where you need it most when riding, the toes.
They’re made of a micro suede which as soft and fleecy feeling so they’re a really comfortable pair of socks with or without heat. They aren’t a tube sock as they’re curved and form fitting for extra comfort.
They’re pretty thin and not bulky at all like some other heated socks I’ve tried.
Of course they’re compatible with the FirstGear heated pant liners too.
Just imagine having all of this heated gear on while riding. It would be almost impossible to get cold with your entire body being heated.
The beauty of this is the fact that you can extend your riding season so much. Depending on where you live you could potentially ride all year round.
I live in Canada so this gear is the difference between my riding season being 4 months long and 7 months long. That’s almost twice as long which makes this gear very valuable to me.
I know I’ve only been focusing on their heated gear lineup but they have non-heated gear too which I’m just about to get into now.

Non-Heated FirstGear Motorcycle Apparel
They have a huge lineup of non heated gear that I couldn’t possibly cover all in one article but I’m going to eventually review every single piece of motorcycle gear that they make.
It’s going to take some time but I’ll get to it all because it’s well worth it given what I already know about the company.
Here’s a few shots of the different gear they make.
That’s only the tip of the iceberg. As you can see they have an incredible lineup of motorcycle gear that will suit any taste.
They do lean a little more towards the duel sport or adventure touring style of rider but they also have some really nice looking street gear that I’m excited to try out as well.
Personally I think they have some of the nicest looking stuff in the industry and if you’re in the market for something new you should definitely consider FirstGear motorcycle apparel as an option.
